Redefining E-Commerce by Selling on Both Sides of the Brain
The world's best retailers use design and emotion masterfully to drive sales in their retail stores. However, most of today's online shopping experiences have all the flair and excitement of a local library.
Sourcebits set out to change the face of e-commerce with an online shopping experience called Nerve. We created a UI that is exceptionally engaging and immersive, but extremely easy to navigate. The drag-and-drop interface lets users scroll through products, pull items off the shelf, and drop them into their carts — delivering the same satisfaction as a “real” shopping experience. The end result is a stickier shopping site that customers want to explore — which leads to more time on site and higher conversions.
Breaking Gmail out of the Browser
One of Gmail’s biggest original limitations was the inability to work offline quickly and easily. Sourcebits solved this problem by breaking Gmail out of the browser, with GeeMail.
GeeMail allows users to work with the familiar Gmail interface, but in an application that keeps working even you’re not connected. The application runs on Adobe Air, and is significantly faster than Gmail’s official offline solution. The application showcases Sourcebits’ ability to build solutions that seamlessly integrate with existing data and provide a superior user experience.

Delivering the Web for a Legendary VC Firm
When Sequoia Capital needed a new corporate website, they called on Sourcebits to deliver a site that would be fitting of their role as the leading venture capital firm in the Silicon Valley.
Sourcebits realized immediately that the project wasn’t about flashy technology or showy design. Instead, we designed a minimalist site with a clean design that allows for engaging, interactive exploration, but makes Sequoia’s portfolio companies the stars. UI features like elegant hover actions and multispeed scroll enhance the user experience, but never dominate it. The end result is a site that showcases Sequoia and the companies it has helped build, rather than the underlying technology.
Seamlessly Integrating Web and Mobile Applications
As the contract developer for the Knocking Live and Skyfire mobile applications, Sourcebits knew their products backwards and forwards — an edge only we can offer.
The site we developed for Knocking Live incorporated user registration, media access, user forums and a vibrant front page, complete with video and a Twitter feed that instantly draws users in. In contrast, the Skyfire site features a corporate aesthetic designed for content delivery to the news media, prospective OEM partners, and a downloads page built for several OS platforms.
