Delivering and Monetizing User Generated Content
Many sites have a rich asset that they’re not monetizing as well as they could: Unique user-generated content.
Our client Concordia had a large base of niche UGC but needed a better way to manage and monetize it. We created a platform called Concordia Aggregator, which provides cloud access to niche literature. It’s a web-based, author-customer matrix that allows for quick and cost-effective dissemination of timely products and maximizes customer engagement. It allows customers to easily search for and buy user-generated content — initially study materials, curricula, or other textual content, and eventually Print-On-Demand (POD), eBooks, calendars, videos, clip art, audio, and PowerPoint templates.
The site allows browsing by category or searching by keyword and users can sort the results by relevance, rating, or price. Users can rate or comment on any of the products in Concordia’s catalog.
Sourcebits designed and developed a highly functional, simple and intuitive web portal with a beautiful and clean user interface and state-of-the-art back-end, allowing Concordia to turn an under-utilized asset into an ongoing revenue stream.
Connecting Citizens, Businesses, and Government With Digital Media
Most people want their voices heard by government, but don’t have time to connect with politicians and wade through the paperwork, rules, and regulations that can bring change to a standstill.
NatSent, had a solution, and came to Sourcebits to implement it. NatSent stands for ‘National Sentiment’, and their solution is a personalized, digital newspaper where the users are both the editors and the writers. NatSent’s goal is to help individuals to speak out and ultimately get what they want without having to go through a lot of red tape. They’re achieving this by reducing the friction for voters and politicians, consumers and businesses, and citizens and thought leaders to communicate.
Sourcebits created an innovative cloud platform that leverages the efficiencies of the Internet to empower the voices of individuals. Users can identify, follow, frame, and influence the issues that they care about, and users decide what makes the front page and how an issue is framed.
Sourcebits engineered a solution which allows enormous numbers of people to interact with each other, and discuss and vote on important social issues. It also provides sophisticated tracking and data analysis tools, which generate meaningful data visualizations on the go. The end result is information that government officials and legislators can use to help craft policies and laws that truly reflect the wishes of the people.
Connecting Social Media Spend to ROI
SocialSee is a Sourcebits client that realized early on that social media is all about answering one simple question for companies spending marketing dollars — “what is driving revenue and value from your investment?” SocialSee cuts through the fog of social media by focusing on this simple question and provides the answers with a clear real-time generated dashboard packed with meaningfully presented information.
Real-time social media monitoring presents a unique set of issues that Sourcebits helped solve. Real-time scraping of multiple online services was a challenge for both backend and interaction design. Performance was also a concern, as users demanded immediate response times, and required the app’s cloud to be on the cutting edge of efficiency.
Background tracking such as click stream, interaction, and social media conversion tracking posed a challenge as well.
Sourcebits approached these challenges from two angles. Interaction design focused on maintaining user engagement and responsiveness through perceptual reduction of the delays caused by scraping information. Engineering put extra effort into building a system which minimized the amount of transferred data, compressed it on the fly, and reduced redundancies. Finally, by meticulously architecting of all the available data streams we allowed users to use it to optimize their social media ROI.
The end results was an application that seamlessly served scraped social media data in real-time, and allowed the user to gain a clear picture of the ROI on their investment across multiple social networks and platforms.
Creating a Better Restaurant Experience
Whether you’re ordering food to go, or coming in for a meal, the typical restaurant experience can often be frustrating. No matter how carefully you repeat to-go orders, something always seems to be missing when you get your food home. And if you decide to eat at the restaurant, you’re frequently faced with a long wait for a table.
Sourcebits client, SoQuik, had a solution, and turned to us to design and build it. SoQuik is an innovative food ordering and texting system that allows the customer to order food or request notification when their restaurant table is ready by simply sending a text message from their mobile phone or directly from a web app.
Soquik provides a seamless connection between mobile and web: all data and processing are in the cloud, and the app serves as an interface for the customer to interact with the restaurant. It’s the easiest way of ordering food.
