Increasing Worker Productivity With Mobile QA Enablement
Manufacturing in today’s environment is about doing more with fewer resources. But balancing reducing supervisory staff with increased quality demands can be a challenge. For example, to keep costs down, many manufacturers are getting by with fewer, or even no high-level plant managers during certain shifts. But what happens when a lower-level employee, suddenly the defacto manager, has to make a critical call on quality.
Sourcebits envisioned a solution to that challenge through a quality control app that allows lower-level QC managers to queue QC review requests to an off-site manager making decisions for multiple plants. The app would let a manager in-plant send key stats and images, and get a quick, well-informed response back from a skilled manager without disrupting production. Having these resources would dramatically reduce the time to locate, call, and provide in-plant data to off-site managers, and significantly increase worker productivity. The app would keep a detailed log of every request, and help identify problems and trends before they become bigger issues.
In-plant employees love the concept because they get the management support they need, managers love it because they it gives them the flexibility to reduce on-plant supervising without reducing quality.
