Come work with us
Are you an industry thought leader with a strong network in mobile, cloud, or web and the ability to build new business? Fed up with endless meetings, stifling bureaucracy, and caps on your potential? Explore a unique opportunity to drive your own future as Sourcebits Studio Director.
Sourcebits Studios are discrete practice groups with focus in specific areas from Mobile Enterprise Applications to Web Gaming. Each is headed by a highly qualified Studio Director who is responsible for driving their Studio’s projects from initial client engagement to final delivery.
Studio Directors are industry leaders in mobile, cloud, and UX design—from the former CEO of the world’s largest open-source mobile platform, to an Apple Design Award winner.
As a Director you’ll share completely in the success of your studio, and have full authority to run it as your own business unit—with unlimited potential. At the same time, you’ll have access to all of the resources Sourcebits provides as a global company backed by Sequoia Capital and IDG Ventures. Sourcebits gives an unprecedented level of support and trust to Studio Directors, and Directors return that trust by delivering spectacular service and results for their clients.
You’ll work with amazing people throughout the company who care as deeply about the success of your clients’ projects as you do. Because Studios work together, clients have access to the best minds in mobile, web, and cloud development across multiple platforms and disciplines. At the core of Sourcebits Studios you’ll find more than 400 Sourcebits employees, each whom bring their extreme passion and focus to client projects across a wide range of talents and skills.
We’re looking for a few people who share that passion and focus and can back it up with a track record of success. If you think you have what it takes to lead your own Studio, get in touch below to learn more.
Making a game is not just about slinging code and making beautiful renders. It’s not just about having an interesting story, beautiful cut scenes, or the right particle effects when you fire a missile. It’s all of these things combined…and much more.
Sourcebits understands that making the best games goes beyond just technical skill or graphics, and includes expertise at everything: from audio to video production, web-based framework development for social and online games, QA, marketing and promotions, all the way to post-release support. For every game we produce, each and every element gets taken into account.
No matter how deep the story is, how shiny the graphics are, or how many whizbang technical tricks are in a game, it won’t be much fun without terrific gameplay. Gameplay is the union of many things: how a player interacts with the game world, the mechanics of that world, enemy behaviors, level design, progressive challenges, and more.
To define and craft excellent gameplay for your game, we start by gaining a deep understanding of the entire game system. We’ll think through player motivations, potential reactions, and even player psychology to create the best possible game experience.

Iterative Game Design
Getting It All Done
None of these great plans of epic story lines, breathtaking levels, and intuitive controls will mean anything unless they’re backed up with solid execution. Sourcebits meets this challenge with some of the best gaming-specific talent in the business.
Our gaming teams have deep experience in everything from off-the-shelf 2D and 3D game engines like Cocos2D, Box2D, Unity and Unreal, to developing our own in-house 2D and 3D game engines directly. Our team members are the type who make 3D game engines and develop realistic and optimized methods for refracting light in a 2D game engine in their spare time. (Really. We do.) Need a 3D game that looks amazing and pushes more vertices than Unity or Unreal can handle on a mobile device? We can get right down to the OpenGL layer and code up a custom game engine that can do it specifically for your project.
Sourcebits has extensive experience developing mobile games on iOS and Android. We develop with a focus on performance while keeping our code maintainable and working to the strengths of whatever platforms you wish to target. Cross-platform compatibility is something we’re extremely comfortable with, having created numerous games with both portable and platform-specific code that leverages the strengths of each platform the game is published on.
Most importantly, we understand that technology is there only to support your gameplay, story, levels, and the art that make up your game.
Art and Creative Design
What is a game without beautiful visuals that take
your breath away, transport you to alien
planets or elicit a smile with every flick of a finger? Sourcebits prides itself in its
creative execution and ability to bring
your characters and games to life. With artists specializing in everything from
comic-style 2D art to photorealistic 3D
models, to animation, we create and
execute art that makes each game beautiful, distinctive and unforgettable.
We’re as well-versed in professional 3D modeling and animation tools like Maya and 3D Studio Max as we are with pencil and paper, so we can execute whatever style your game needs with awesome results.
Putting it All Together
Ultimately, all the story lines, gameplay ideas, controls, levels, technology, and art need to be combined into a cohesive product that meets your objectives. Each game is developed and produced by a multidisciplinary team that includes a producer who is responsible to you to make sure the game’s vision is executed flawlessly and professionally. Working with our extended team of artists, technologists, audio engineers, QA analysts, game designers, level designers and the whole host of other people that make up a successful game production, the producer weaves together a product that is polished, fun, and exactly what you want.
Achievement Unlocked: Game Released. Continue?
Today’s games are no longer one-off products that are launched and forgotten; they’re products that grow and mature, continuously enticing new players to discover and enjoy while rewarding existing users for their purchase. Once your game is released, our production staff will work with you to plan updates and future upgrades that help grow a game’s audience and extend its life as a viable product.
